WHY DO WE PETITION FOR A BETTER AND ACCESSIBLE DRINKING WATER IN ICTHS?

The petitioned project will be most beneficial to students who need help to get sufficient drinking water and buy a water bottle at the canteen. This advocacy aims to inform concerned stakeholders, parents, and guardians about the drinking water situation at Information and Communication Technology High School (ICTHS) and encourage them to act on it.

According to the U.S. National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, a sufficient daily fluid intake equals 15.5 cups (3.7 liters) of fluids for men and 11.5 cups (2.7 liters) of fluids for women. A student should replenish the water in their body to be able to continue doing tasks in school. As previously stated, students must bring their water jugs daily or purchase a Php 15.00 water bottle from the canteen to provide themselves with drinking water, which could be better because it is limited and expensive. Petitioning for cheaper and better access to drinking water could help many students in ICTHS.

SURVEY DATA - THE ACCESSIBILITY OF DRINKING WATER IN ICTHS

We learned from the survey about the importance of water to the ICTHS students and how they drink it at school. Most students who responded to the study drank water from personal containers. Most respondents always drink water, yet often run out of it. About 50% of students do not find buying a water bottle canteen convenient. Finally, all the students expressed a desire for better accessible drinking water at the school.

The survey's findings showed how vital drinking water is to ICTHS students. We may conclude by saying that improving the accessibility of drinking water at ICTHS will benefit many students.
